Water Outage – 2-19-2021 Update 2

Water Outage Update February 19, 2021

The City of Boyd’s water situation is improving. Our storage tanks are recovering slowly and are beginning to gain an acceptable capacity level.

We are still unable to receive any additional water from Walnut Creek SUD at this time, as their system took a hard hit and they too, are having to recover.

We are planning to turn the system back on tomorrow February 20, 2021 at 10:00am.  This will allow maximum capacity in storage and will allow you time to prepare. We feel that opening the system at that time, will give you an opportunity to be home and be present when the water is restored.

If you would like to have your service meter turned off prior to 10:00am tomorrow, please feel free to turn off now, or you may request that your meter is turned off by our personnel. Please email at [email protected] or call 940-433-5166 Ext # 4 and give your name, number and address and we will turn off your meter prior to 10:00 am tomorrow.

The City of Boyd has secured bottled water and we began distributing yesterday and will continue to distribute throughout the day. Water distribution is being coordinated by the Boyd Police Department.

A private citizen has also secured water and has advised it will be available after 2:00 pm.  You may pick up additional water from the Pizza Place in Boyd 110 W. Rock Island if needed.

Once the water is restored, it is imperative that you use water in emergency situations only. Please refrain from non-necessary use. We will continue to be under a boil water notice as are 16 million other Texans until sometime next week.

NOTE: You must conserve water. As stated in yesterday’s update, we are at a 75,000-gallon deficit due to the loss of the Walnut Creek SUD supply. To manage this deficit, conservation must occur. If conservation efforts are not strictly adhered to, we will once again be forced into a prolonged outage.

  • Prepare for water system restoration at 10:00 am tomorrow February 20, 2021.
  • Turn off your water meter please email [email protected]  or call 940-433-5166 ext # 4 with name, number and address and we will send a crew member to do so.
  • Expose your meter cover, if covered in snow.

  • If anyone would like to assist in meter turn off assistance, we will meet at the Boyd Police Department in the morning at 8:00 am. 731 E. Rock Island. Bring crescent wrench.

  • If you do not turn off your meter, or you do not request you meter to be turned off and notice that you have a leak tomorrow. TEXT  address to  817-888-1874 to report a leak. We will dispatch a water shut off technician to your address to turn off the meter.

Once again, it can not be stressed enough, once water is turned on tomorrow morning, your must conserve. Only use water in emergency situations. The last thing we want to do, is turn off the system again.

We appreciate your patience and encouragement. Boyd is truly an amazing community, pulling together, working together and we will work through this unprecedented weather and power outage event.
