Texas Water Development Board approves $5,840,000 to the City of Boyd (Wise County) for water system improvements

After many long hours of discussions in city council meetings, your Mayor and City Council instructed staff to develop and submit an application for funding assistance to the Texas Water Development Board.

Staff, working with City Engineers developed a plan and submitted an approximate 600 page application prior to the deadline. We have been anxiously waiting the out come of the request for almost a year…today we received our answer.

AUSTIN – (June 21, 2018) – The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved by resolution financial assistance in the amount of $5,840,000 from the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund to the City of Boyd (Wise County). The City will use the assistance to finance the planning, acquisition, design, and construction costs associated with water system improvements.

The City could save approximately $166,000 by using the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund.

With the assistance approved today, the City will make improvements to the water supply, treatment, pumping, and storage facilities. In addition, the City will create an asset management plan and a water conservation and drought contingency plan.

The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional planning, and preparing the state water plan for the development of the state’s water resources. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control, and agricultural water conservation projects.
