With the mild winter and the current wet conditions the City of Boyd is anticipating an increased mosquito population this year. As such the City will begin Spraying and treating areas of the City this week. The first application will begin Thursday, April 2, 2020. All areas of the City will be sprayed. Spraying will begin at 6:30 pm, weather permitting. Additional applications will be conducted as needed.

How safe is it?
Pesticides that are used for mosquito control have been judged by the EPA not to pose an unreasonable risk to human health. Spraying is scheduled in the evening to limit exposure to people who may wish to avoid contact with the pesticide used to control mosquito populations. Spraying events begin at 6:30 p.m.
People who are concerned about exposure to a pesticide, such as those with chemical sensitivity or breathing conditions such as asthma, can reduce their potential for exposure by staying indoors during the application period. Anyone who thinks they have been affected should check with their primary healthcare provider.
Will the spray affect people with respiratory conditions?
People with conditions such as asthma and other respiratory conditions can consider staying indoors because spraying may worsen or aggravate these conditions.
