City of Boyd Special Election May 5, 2018

The City of Boyd will hold a Special Election on May 5, 2018.

This Special election is to be held concurrently with the General Election on May 5, 2018 for the purpose of submitting to the qualified voters, for adoption or rejection, a proposition abolishing  the additional municipal sales and use tax at the rate of one-half of one percent used for property tax relief, and concurrently, authorize  creation of the Boyd Municipal Development District with the imposition of a sales and use tax at the rate of one-half of one percent for the purpose of financing development projects beneficial to the district.

Proposition 1 will read as follows:

PROPOSITION NO. 1

FOR / AGAINST “The abolition of the additional sales and use tax within the City at the rate of one-half of one percent used to reduce the property tax rate; and concurrently authorizing the creation of the Boyd Municipal Development District with the imposition of a sales and use tax within the incorporated City limits of the City of Boyd, Texas, which boundaries shall automatically conform to any changes in the corporate boundaries of the City, at the rate of one-half of one percent for the purpose of financing development projects beneficial to the district.”
